Homegrown Honey
Chris and Casey. Where to even start? Chris and Casey are a local couple (not a term thrown around loosely on the Outer Banks) who are near and dear to our hearts.
They fell in love and originally started planning a wedding in Ocracoke, NC, but after finding the perfect little cottage in Harbinger, NC they thought what better than a wedding and house warming all in one? The couple planned a backyard soiree set for the first weekend in October. Chris and Casey's families spent hours tidying up the back yard for the perfect ceremony and reception - setting up their own bistro lighting, building a custom arbor, cutting rosemary from their garden for boutonnieres, and setting up long tables for family style seating for a guest count of over 200. The wedding day rolled around and there was a 100% chance of rain all day. Chris's grandfather had passed away that week, and before heading out to surf before he said his vows, Chris got down on his knees and asked his grandfather for help. He needed him to clear the skies and give them the sunshine. Fifteen minutes later the sun decided to come out, and it ended up being one of the most beautiful Fall days the Outer Banks had this past year. Chris told this story to all of his guests later on in the night.
Guests parked on the lawn of the church across the street and walked over to the the couple's cottage, where they were greeted with cocktails and directed to the ceremony. The custom arbor was adorned with dry flowers and there was bench style seating. Casey was accompanied down the first part of the aisle by her step dad, where she was then handed over to her biological father who walked her the rest of the way. After their nuptials, guests were fed hors d'oeuvres off a grazing table, while they sipped cocktails and listed to a band play from the garage. The couple had a first dance as husband and wife, followed by father daughter dances, mother son, and a surprise mother daughter dance. After a delicious family style dinner, everyone danced the night away under the stars.
Most importantly Chris and Casey were our friends first, and our clients second. We were honored to be able to celebrate with them and witness such a one of a kind love.
Special thanks to Tidewater and Tulle for featuring their love story shown here:
