Downtown Dreams

The rain lately has us thinking about two things: The Brame's and travel.

Though it's been over four months since Mr. and Mrs. Brame said "I Do" in downtown RVA, we still think of that day often. Much to anyone's dismay, their wedding day in January was dreary. Lucky for the couple plan A (yes A!) was all inside at a breathtaking venue called The John Marshall Ballrooms.

Your wedding should be a reflection of the two of you. If you read our blog about LJ and Ryan 'Becoming Brame' posted back in January you'd know that their wedding did just that. Like their personalities it was big - a guest count of over 200 family and friends, exquisite ballrooms, chandeliers, the whole nine yards. Like their contagious love for one another it was romantic - rooms lit with hundreds of candles, roses, champagne hued uplighting, gold accents, and a secret first dance just for them two. It was fun - a Virginia Tech grooms cake, a bouquet and garter toss complete with the groom getting "Iced" by way of him finding a Smirnoff Ice under Laura's white gown. It was classic - the groomsmen in black and white tuxes and the maids in floor length eggplant gowns, perfectly complimenting the pops of purple in the flowers.

As planners who normally work in a coastal environment, weather can be one of the most stressful aspects for us. Our weather can be quite unpredictable. One minute it's sunny and 75, and the next it's dropped 20 degrees and we're grabbing the umbrellas. We constantly watch the radar, looking for that 30 minute pocket to make an outdoor ceremony happen. Traveling to Virginia for this wedding was a complete treat! Working entirely inside on a rainy day was just the icing on the cake. We actually looked at one another at one point and were like "It's raining, and we're inside!" No room flips were needed, not a detail changed, and the couple were still able to get beautiful photos outside in between storms.

Whenever, wherever you choose to get married is up to you. Whether it's in a ballroom, a pier, a church, a beach, a barn, a vineyard, or an event home. In your backyard or in Honolulu. In the words of Nike - Just Do It. Drink the drink, dance the dance, eat the food, wear the sexy lingerie. If you're lucky, you'll only do it once, so embrace whatever speaks to you. We can only hope that wherever you choose, rain or shine, it is one of the best days of your life. LJ and Ryan, thank you for letting us be a part of yours.

Cheers y'all! #itsbrametime
