Pier Party

Did you know one personality trait that will help you when planning your wedding? Well, if you're a quick decision maker, consider it a good thing. Nowadays with all the wedding photo content all over every social media platform it can make it really hard to make final decisions on color schemes, centerpieces, bridesmaids dresses, etc. That leads us to our beautiful, smart and lightening fast decision maker bride, Kirby.

Kirby and Justin met online and are complete opposites! Kirby radiates confidence and beauty. She is bubbly, outgoing, fun, hilarious and she's a girl that knows what she wants. You meet her and immediately feel like old friends. Justin is the yin to her yang. He is sweet, quiet, and hangs out in the background and lets her shine. They have the thoughtful kind of love that is shared between them with just a simple look or kind gesture. We are true believers in this kind of love and know theirs will last a lifetime.

Kirby first inquired with us in January and we dove in, planning to bring together her entire wedding set for June 24, 2017. She didn't even have her venue yet folks - it can be done! Planning with these two was an absolute joy. When it all came down to it it was a true beach wedding on a hot summer day, complete with a tourist filled beach, and a rain storm to conclude the evening. It was true Outer Banks style and these two embraced every moment, with the most caring group of family and friends by their side.

After getting ready at separate homes, the couple wanted a secluded first look that had the complete opposite feel from the beach. We directed them towards one of our favorite parks down the road which is where they saw each other for the first time. Guests were then welcomed over the dunes to an oceanside ceremony adjacent to the pier. With white chairs, a driftwood arbor, bright floral accents and beach balls to throw during the recessional, their ceremony was lighthearted yet meaningful. At the conclusion of the ceremony guests were welcomed through the pier house out onto the pier for an outdoor cocktail hour. They were then welcomed into the classic Old Nags Head style pier house for the reception. There were old window panes with guests names written on them to tell them where they were to be seated, white linens, chiavari chairs, cafe lighting and soft draping overhead, with light florals and overflowing lanterns atop every dining table. It was the perfect contrast to the dark wood paneling inside. With the awe-inspiring view of the ocean from every angle, it was truly jaw dropping. The night proceeded with special dances, tear filled speeches, a buffet dinner, open bar, custom cakes from their favorite bakery in Maryland, and a dance floor that was never empty.

Kirby and Justin, we're so excited that you'll be adding a baby boy to your family this Spring! After seeing how important it was to you both to make all the little ones in your family feel special on your wedding day, we know parenthood is going to look good on you. Thank you for trusting us with all the details of your day in such a short period of time, and for treating us like family. We will never forget it!
