Creatively Coastal
Would you have your wedding across the country? Many people wouldn't dare! But, you'd be surprised the amount of distance traveled to have an OBX wedding. The Outer Banks offers so many different options for engaged couples that it's just too hard to stay away! And if a week long vacation with friends and family is the icing on your wedding cake, well, this is the place for you!
Ali and Phil live in Los Angeles, CA, but with family in the area they ended up choosing The Whalehead Club in Corolla as their wedding venue. After meeting with them over coffee, they decided they had things under control, but wanted us to come in and be their month of planners. This is one of our most popular packages and allows us to start correspondence with our couples 30 days out from the wedding date. This is essential, especially when booking a venue that requires you to have a large rental equipment order. It allows us just enough time to really understand your vision, what's important to you, and fix any issues with contracts and final orders to really ensure you have everything you need for the big day. We are then of course present for your wedding day from start to finish.
The Whalehead Club is a historic landmark and lucky for the bride to be, it offers an expansive open landscape to create whatever type of wedding you'd like. With two different lawn options, and an additional wedding ceremony option on the pointe (all with water views) it allows couples to essentially build whatever kind of wedding they could dream of. In the Bayless/Wemer's case they kept things simple and stunning, a very smart thing to do when you've decided to travel cross country to get hitched! Their overall theme was "I love you to the moon and back" with homemade favor bags that held custom aprons, a DIY photo booth, napkins, and a small cutting tier and cupcakes - all coordinating with the special theme. This truly was a talented family! The bride chose to dress tables with white linens and burlap runners topped with bunches of wildflowers and votives to add the perfect whimsical touch.
After a ceremony on the pointe filled with tearful vows, guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside on the South lawn. With speciality drinks honoring the maid of honor and best man, there wasn't a detail missed. After cocktails and appetizers, a dual catering dinner followed underneath the tent. A traditional boil was served along with vegetarian entrees. After dinner, guests enjoyed an assortment of cupcakes for dessert, along with heartfelt toasts from friends, dancing and fun photos in the moon booth went well into the evening. The couple ended the night with a glow stick exit and champagne send off! Phil and Ali, thank you for including us in your big day. We wish you years of love filled with many more travels from coast to coast!
